Tam’s 25-Day Keto Journey – Day 3

April 18, 2018

Wow, did the fatigue train really hit me today! I started the day with low energy, and it ended up staying that way until my work day was done. I feel drained. My head is cloudy. I can’t think straight. The Keto Flu is in full effect!
Also, my sugar cravings really got to me. I was day dreaming about cake and rice krispy treats — anything and everything sweet. My Facebook feed was teasing with me videos about how to make a cheesecake but with a rice krispy treat crust! Oh, the torture!
To distract me from my dessert-filled delusions, I struck up a conversation with one of my good friends, nicknamed Tuna, about her recently diet experience with Whole 30 (spoiler alert: she’s doing great sticking to it and seeing results!). She was curious about Keto so we talked about the differences. I’m still learning about Keto myself, so into Google I went to find resources that explained exactly what the differences were. Cashews are ok for Whole 30, but no good for Keto due to a high carb content — very interesting.
I found a site that claimed some berries in small amounts are Keto-friendly. I’m really glad to read this as I really want something sweet! I will try to grab a few berries from my work kitchen tomorrow.
In the early afternoon, I hit up the work gym and tried to get some lifting done. But, I was only able to pump out one set of exercises, when I should have 5 sets of 5 for 3 whole exercises. I feel like I failed here, but it’s not really expected for one to be so physically active during the transition to ketosis. Besides, it’s better that I didn’t hurt myself doing weights when I’m weak.
Now that I’m at home for the evening, I’m realized that I went through the day like a zombie. I hope this funk goes away soon, because my productivity level was really low. I need to pick it back up! On the upside, I feel this is a clear indicator from my body that I am on my way to ketosis.
